I have taught children of every age, from elementary school through graduate school.
As a former teacher for the New York City Department of Education, adjunct professor at Rutgers and Fordham Universities, and certified school social worker, I've worked with children of all ages. This experience has aided my work with children in a therapeutic private practice context.
The power of the child brain is astounding. Children are vastly more resilient and insightful than adults.
Working with children in emotional pain is difficult, but the tremendous potential children have to heal makes my work with children some of the most rewarding in my practice.
It is vastly more effective to work with childhood traumas before the brain has "set" in adulthood.
My work with children is heavily informed by the work of Dan Siegel.
